 Dr. Kotz grew up in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1967 with a degree in Zoology. After graduating from the University of Detroit in 1971 with his doctorate in Dental Surgery, Dr. Kotz served as a Dental Officer in the U.S. Navy from 1971-1973. He returned to the University of Michigan following his military service and completed his Endodontic residency in 1976. Dr. Kotz then relocated to Tallahassee and became the first endodontist to serve the area.

Dr. Kotz is an active member of the American Association of Endodontists, the Florida Dental Association, Southern Endodontic Study Group, the American Dental Association, Leon County Dental Association, and past president of the Florida Association of Endodontists.

Dr. Kotz has been married to his wife Joanne for 43 years. When away from the office, he enjoys spending time with his three children and ten grandchildren.
